4 High Mountain of Sumatera

1. Mount Kerinci (3805 m) in Jambi


Mount Kerinci (also spelled "Kerintji", and known as the Mount Gadang, Volcano Kurinci, Kerinchi, Korinci, or Peak Indrapura) is the highest mountain in Sumatra, and the highest peak in Indonesia after Papua. Mount Kerinci is located in Bukit Barisan Mountains, near the west coast, and is located approximately 130 km south of Padang. The mountain is surrounded by dense forests of Kerinci Seblat National Park and is the habitat of Sumatran tigers and Sumatran rhinoceros.

Kerinci is still active and last erupted in 2009.

2. Mount Leuser (3172 m) in Aceh


Mount Leuser with a height of 3404 m is the highest mountain in Aceh, Indonesia. Mount Leuser is located in southeast Aceh, near the border with North Sumatra. Mount Leuser National Park is located in the Gunung Leuser who took the name of this mountain as its name. While the Mount Leuser National Park and the surrounding area known as the Leuser Ecosystem is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

3. Mount Dempo (3159 m) in South Sumatra


Mount Dempo is located in the border province of South Sumatra and Bengkulu provinces. To reach the nearest village, first you have to reach the town of Pagar Alam, approximately 7 hour road trip from Palembang. From the South Sumatra capital of many buses are available at Pagar Alam. Or if you are from Jakarta, prior to riding the bus or Padang Bengkulu majors, and fell in Lahat.

4. Talamau mountain (2.912 m) of West Sumatra


Talamau Mountain is a mountain located in West Pasaman, West Sumatra Province, adjacent to Mount Pasaman. The highest mountain in the province of West Sumatra has a height of 2.920 meters, including the type of volcano is not active.
